Owner operated since 1983 by Pat and Helaine Borge, Makena
Stables offers much more than "just a trail ride ". We offer a unique riding opportunity for you to saddle up
and ride with the owner of the Stables, a Maui born Paniolo (cowboy) whose knowledge & aloha for the aina
(land) and his horses shines through on each tour. This is the "real thing"
We have exceptional quality horses, many raised and trained
by us. And because we really love what we do, this shows in the care of the horses and in the quality of your
experience. We match each person to their horse by ability and offer help and lessons as needed to each rider,
sharing our insight into the animals that you will be getting to know.

Our groups are small to keep things friendly and interesting for
everyone. All of our rides are on Ulupalakua Ranch, 20,000 acres of some of the most beautiful wild land on Maui,
overlooking the Ahihi Kinau Natural Area Reserve, La Perouse Bay and offering spectacular views of the most recent
lava flow and outer islands.

Enjoy quick glimpses of Axis deer and other wildlife. During the winter
months we get great views of the whales and dolphins below in La Perouse Bay. Bring your camera for some great shots.
Guided groups of maximum six persons, western style riding. Children 13
years/ 5ft. are welcome when accompanied by an adult. |
All rides are physically strenuous, our trails are rugged and
technically challenging and we strongly recommend that all riders be in good physical condition. Weight limit is
205lbs. Minimum height for riders over 200 lbs. is 5’11”.
Tours cancelled 48 hours prior to date of operation are refundable less 10% service charge. Tours cancelled less
than 48 hours are
non-refundable. All bookings made more than two weeks in advance are
subject to 72 hour cancellation policy, |
